01The Free Island Guide
Everything a local would tell you — printed like a proper field-guide, free to keep.
Written by people who actually live here, the Pier & Palm guidebook maps your day off the ship: where to eat, what to skip, and the quiet corners the crowds never find.
No affiliate links, no pay-to-play placements, no timeshare pitches. Just honest recommendations organised by how much time you have and what kind of day you want — from a two-hour stroll near the pier to a full loop of the island by rental car.
Download it before you dock so it works offline. Ship Wi-Fi is expensive and cell coverage fades on the back roads — save the PDF to your phone and you're set for the whole day.

04Good to know
Downloading & using the guide.
Is the guidebook really free?
Yes — completely free, no email wall required to read it. We'll only ask for an email if you'd like a heads-up before your ship arrives, and you can skip that entirely.
Will it work without Wi-Fi or cell service?
Absolutely. It's a standard PDF — download it to your phone before you dock and it stays on your device, maps and all, even where coverage drops on the back roads.
When should I download it?
The night before your port day, using your hotel or ship's port Wi-Fi. That way you're not paying for shipboard data and you can plan your morning over breakfast.
How do I time things around the ship's all-aboard?
Every recommendation lists a realistic round-trip drive time from the Kahului and Lahaina piers, so you can pick a day that gets you back with a comfortable buffer before all-aboard.
Do I need a rental car?
Not necessarily. The "Close to the Pier" chapter is entirely walkable, and we note which spots are reachable by taxi, shuttle or a short ride-share.
05Two free things
